Weigh and Win FAQ
What is the program?
Weigh and Win is a FREE program that helps participants achieve and maintain a healthy weight through daily emails and/or text messages, a weekly journal, 24/7 health guide, and access to personal trainers through phone or email interaction. Participants can stay accountable and visually track their progress through photographed weigh-ins completed at private scales, referred to as “kiosks,” located throughout the community. Weight improvement enables participants to earn quarterly cash rewards (if initial BMI is >= 25) and all participants are eligible for monthly prizes just for participating.
Who can participate in the program?
The Weigh and Win program is free for all Colorado residents ages 18 and over. Only those with a BMI of 25 or greater at the initial weigh-in are eligible to earn the rewards for losing weight per the established incentive scale. Those with a BMI of less than 25
may still participant in the program and can be eligible for HEALTHpoints prizes by accruing points through program participation.
How does the program work?
Join: Easy enrollment online or at any kiosk location.
Coach: A daily email or text message program that coaches individuals on healthy eating and active living (messages tailored based on enrollment preferences).
Measure: Participants will weigh-in at a private, automated kiosk located in their community every 90 days. Weigh-in results and live progress tracking will facilitate the quarterly rewards program.
Reward: Opportunity to earn quarterly cash rewards for reaching the specified weight improvement marks (see chart in #9). You can also earn prizes from local retail partners by accruing HEALTHpoints for participating in program activities (i.e. weekly journal).
Team Challenge: Periodic Team Challenges are typically three months in duration. Teams can be comprised of family, friends, and/or co-workers who will further motivate participants and allow them to earn additional rewards.
What are my options to join?
Enroll online! Enrollment is quick and easy. Just visit www.weighandwin.com and click the “Join Now It’s Free” button. Complete a profile that only takes about five to ten minutes. The final step in the enrollment is to go to any local Weigh and Win kiosk to complete your baseline weigh-in.
Or, start enrollment at the kiosk! At any Weigh and Win kiosk, select the “Join Now” button, and then enter your email address, height, and complete a baseline weigh-in for the program year. Then, further instructions to complete your profile will be sent to the email address you entered at the kiosk. Be sure to use the link in the email in order to complete your enrollment!
I don’t have internet access, can I still participate?
Yes! There is a text message option to the program that can take the place of the daily email messages. Although the messaging cannot be as detailed due to SMS word limits, the text messages are still thorough and have been proven effective.
How often will I receive emails or text messages?
You will receive one email per day, with each day corresponding to a messaging theme (i.e. healthy eating, exercise, motivation, etc.).
If daily emails are too much, you can select to receive the "weekly" emails by
adjusting your profile settings. If you choose the text message option, you can receive up to three text messages daily, depending on your personal preferences, that correspond to a messaging theme (General, Nutrition, and Exercise). Each text message will be sent at the time specified by the participant. You will never be sent unsolicited email; all of your information will be kept strictly confidential. The only emails you receive will be from the Weigh and Win team.
How long does it take to set up your profile?
Getting signed up for the program and setting up your profile is quick and easy! It only takes about five to ten minutes to complete your entire program profile.
What if I forgot my username and/or password?
Your username and password are used to access your online Weigh and Win account, as well as allowing you login access to complete a weigh-in at our kiosks. Once you have your username/password make sure to either memorize the combination or document it in a safe place. Make it simple for yourself to remember and know that the password tool IS case-sensitive.
To reset your password: Visit https://weighandwin.com/MyCoach/Index.aspx and enter the email address you used to enroll in the program into the box that says “Forgot Password.” This tool will send you an email with a link you can use to reset your password. The email will timeout after 60 minutes, so make sure you are able to access it within this time. Also, please allow 20 minutes after resetting your password before trying to weigh-in at a Weigh and Win kiosk. You can also call Weigh and Win at 303-694-8007 (Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm) and we can confirm your password with you this way. For security reasons, we cannot provide your password to you via email.
To view your username: Visit https://weighandwin.com/MyCoach/Index.aspx and click on the link that says “Forgot Username (click here)” located in the “Forgot Password” box. Enter the email address you used to enroll in the program into the box that says “Forgot Username.” This will send you an email with your username. You can also email email@example.com and we can verify your username with you, but we will not include password information. If you are still experiencing issues, you can contact Weigh and Win at 303-694-8007 and we can confirm your login information with you this way.
What happens after I have completed a year in the program?
Congratulations on completing your first year! After completing a year in the Weigh and Win program, you will automatically be rolled into your next year as long as funding for the program continues. You will continue to receive the coaching emails and/or text messages unless you choose otherwise. At the start of each new year, your baseline weight will reset and your reward level will be set back to $0. If you weighed in during your fourth quarter of the previous year, this weigh-in will automatically be used as your new baseline weight for the new year. If you did not complete a weigh-in during your fourth quarter of the previous year, you will need to visit a kiosk soon to record a new baseline weight. If your new baseline weight still equates to a BMI of 25 or higher, you will still be eligible to receive cash rewards for the next year. If your new baseline weight equates to a BMI less than 25, congratulations you have reached a healthy weight! We encourage you to continue your participation in the program and work towards maintaining your new healthy weight. Participation alone can qualify all participants for HEALTHpoint prizes; however, with a healthy weight you will not be eligible for the cash rewards.
What if some people don’t need to lose weight – can they still participate?
Of course! The program also encourages people to maintain a healthy weight, whether the participant reaches a healthy weight through the program or has a healthy prior to joining the program. Cash rewards can only be earned through weight improvement by participants with a starting BMI of 25 or higher for the program year. However, all participants in the program will be eligible to win great prizes by accruing HEALTHpoints through program participation (i.e. completion of weekly journals, reading emails, quarterly weigh-ins).
What if I miss a quarterly weigh-in deadline?
If you don’t weigh-in before a weigh-in deadline, you will simply not be eligible to receive a reward that quarter. Since you have the entire three month quarter to complete a weigh-in, your weigh-in deadlines are not flexible and no extensions will be offered. If you do not weigh-in during a quarter, your status in the program will not change in any way and you will not miss out on any rewards in future quarters. Your remaining weigh-in deadline dates will remain the same and if you are eligible for a cash reward based on your weight improvement, you will still be able to weigh-in during following quarters to qualify for rewards.
How much money is earned?
Cash rewards are distributed quarterly and will be awarded to participants who achieve weight improvement according to the below structure:

How are cash rewards distributed?
Rewards are distributed quarterly, based on the each participant’s individual
start date in the program. Participants who earn cash rewards will receive a
reloadable cash reward card in the mail. If rewards are earned in
subsequent quarters, the rewards is electronically reloaded on to the original
What if I lost my reward card?
If your reward card is lost or stolen, call Weigh and Win at 1-800-694-0352. Replacement cards will be shipped within 24 hours, which you will receive in 7-10 business days. You will be charged a $6.00 replacement card fee.
How long can people earn money?
If weight improvement has been achieved, a participant is eligible to receive a cash reward based on the amount of weight improvement. If weight is kept off, cash awards can be received quarterly up to one year after program enrollment. If some or all of the weight is regained between weigh-ins, the cash reward will be reduced or eliminated in line with the reward structure goals. At the end of 12 months, the participant's baseline weight is recalculated and the incentive structure starts over with the new baseline weight for the program year.
If the participant's starting BMI is still greater than or equal to 25, the
participant may still receive rewards for another year in the program for
acheiving weight improvement.
Can I start over?
We can absolutely restart your daily coaching emails/text messages from the beginning, but we cannot reset your start date or change weigh-in deadlines. Your quarterly weigh-in deadlines are based off when you initially enrolled in the program and cannot be changed. If you would like to restart your emails from day one you can do so by logging into your Weigh and Win account and visiting the “My Settings” tab then selecting “Profile” and then “Program Settings.” Here you will see your “Program Day Counter.” If you set this to “Not Started” and then hit “Continue” your daily emails will
begin from day 1 at the start of next week.
How is Weigh and Win funded?
Weigh and Win is funded by Kaiser Permanente Colorado, Community Benefit in an effort to improve community health by making an effective weight management program accessible to the general public. Community partnerships have also been critical in making the program available by providing additional funding, resources, and promotional support.
When I go to the kiosk to weigh-in, will I be doing so in private?
Yes! Barriers surround the kiosk to provide privacy for participants during the weigh-in process and general use of the kiosk.
Participants will receive an email, following a recorded weigh-in, with instructions to access their results on their Weigh and Win account online. All data is kept completely private, secure, and confidential. Personal weight information will not be included in the email.
Can I weigh-in at any kiosk?
Yes, all participants can weigh-in at any Weigh and Win kiosk within the facility’s hours of operation. Visit www.weighandwin.com and select “Kiosk Locations” for a list of kiosk locations, status, and facility hours.
How does the kiosk know that it’s me weighing in?
In order to weigh-in at a kiosk, participants must enter the unique username and password combination that was created by the participant during the program enrollment. During the weigh-in, a photo is taken to further verify identity and is then sent to the participants online account.
What is the kiosk is not working properly when I go to weigh-in?
Technology is unpredictable, so please do not wait until the last day before your quarterly deadline to complete a weigh-in. If it is known to Weigh and Win that a kiosk is out of order and waiting for repair, a “temporarily out of order” message will be uploaded to the website to view under “Kiosk Locations*"
tab. If you experience any issues during our office hours (M-F 8:00am-5:00pm) then please call us directly from the kiosk. If your closest kiosk location is temporarily out of order, please visit the “Kiosk Locations”
tab for a list of your next closest kiosks.
I completed a weigh-in but it’s not showing up on my Progress Report
The most common reason for a weigh-in not showing up is because the kiosk was “offline” during your weigh-in. You can tell if a kiosk is offline when you are at the kiosk if there is a red dot by the word “internet” on the bottom right of the computer screen. You can still weigh-in when a kiosk is offline. Your data will be securely saved in the system, but it won’t transfer to your online account until the internet connection is reestablished. This usually happens within a couple hours but can sometimes take up to a couple days. If a few days have passed and your weigh-in is still not visible on your Progress Report, you may need to redo your weigh-in. Remember that technology is not flawless and there is always a chance for minor glitches. If you contact us about a weigh-in issue, please include the approximate date of your weigh-in and the kiosk location you weighed in at.

You can log your food with Fitbit's online tools and mobile apps to get a more complete view of your health and fitness. You can even measure how long and how well you sleep. How do I order my Fitbit on my Weigh and Win account?
Login to your Weigh and Win account. Select “Settings” in the top blue toolbar, and then “Fitbit”. Select the 'Buy Now' link on the right to purchase your Fitbit!
How do I link my Fitbit to Weigh and Win?

What are the timing parameters for HEALTHpoint activities?
“Weekly”: Exactly 7 days (Ex. If you weigh-in at the kiosk on Thursday during one week and Tuesday during the second week, you will only receive 25 points for the first weigh-in.)
“Daily”: Exactly 24 hours (Ex. If you open two emails with-in a 24 hour time frame, you will only receive points for opening the first email.)
How can I ensure that my HEALTHpoint activities are recorded?
Refer a Friend using the “Referrals” tool; friend must complete the enrollment for points to be earned: To receive points, you must send a referral via the link in the
"My Settings" tool. The referred participant must use the link provided in the referral email to complete his/her enrollment. You will only receive points once he/she enrolls via the link.
Refer a friend to Team Challenge through Weigh and Win website; friend must join the team for points to be earned: Once you have joined or created a team, you can find the option to “invite a friend” by selecting the “Team Challenge” link and entering your friends email address into the box and selecting “invite friend.” Doing so will send them an email with a link to join your team. Your points will be added when they use this link to join your team.
Join the Team Challenge: When you request to join a team, an invitation is sent to the Team Captain. The Team Captain must accept your request for you to be on the team in order for you to receive HEALTHpoints for joining the team. You can also earn HEALTHpoints for creating your own team and inviting friends to join.
Complete Survey (sent via email on Day 106 in program): Weigh and Win sends each participant an email on day 106 with a link to complete a general survey about the program. If you complete the survey via the link within two weeks of it being sent, you will receive HEALTHpoints. The HEALTHpoints for completing the survey are added once per week (usually by Thursday) so you will likely not see these points recorded immediately.
Connect or Enroll with Facebook: If you initially enrolled into Weigh and Win using the “Sign-up with Facebook” option. Your HEALTHpoints will be
recorded upon completing your enrollment. This allows you to use the same login information for Facebook and Weigh and Win. You can also connect your Weigh and Win account to Facebook after enrollment. To connect your account to Facebook, go to “My Settings” then “Profile” and select “Link your Account to Facebook”. Follow the prompts, and after you connect you will receive HEALTHpoints.
Post to Facebook via Weigh and Win Progress Report: Go to “View Progress Report.” Click on the green badge and select what you’d like to share on Facebook. Your points will be recorded after your Facebook post has been confirmed.
Email Open: In order to receive points, images must be enabled in your email. The image in the upper right hand corner of the email message must be downloaded. You can receive one point per day for opening an email.
Website Login: You can receive HEALTHpoints once per day for logging into www.weighandwin.com. Be sure to “Log Out” of the website
each time to ensure your HEALTHpoints are recorded.
Kiosk Weigh-In- HEALTHpoints should appear within four hours of completing a weigh-in at a Weigh and Win kiosk. However, if a kiosk is offline for an extended period of time HEALTHpoints will not be recorded until an internet connection is established. You can weigh-in as often as you like, but you will only receive HEALTHpoints once per week for weighing in.
Journal Entry: You can receive HEALTHpoints once per week for completing a journal entry. All required fields, i.e “Weight”, must be filled in for the journal entry to be saved successfully.
Weekly Quiz Completion: The participant must have an active day counter, and therefore be receiving emails. You can receive HEALTHpoints once per week for completing a quiz. If your quizzes pile up and you answer several of them in one week, you will still only receive HEALTHpoints for completing one quiz that week. Each quiz can only be completed once during a program year.
